@gigaman2012. It's ... @gigaman2012. It's because you want to make sure that you are always breathing. Lots of trainers do that to ensure that? they are not holding their breath.

Not sure which ... Not sure which twist variation? your describing?
1) starting with a hammer grip (palms facing each other) and rotating palms towards your feet.
2) starting with a traditional bench type grip (palms facing your feet) and rotating palms inward facing each other.
Some believe #1 is the only twist worth doing, #2 recruits too much shoulder and stabilizers. However most feel twists are unnecessary if you're doing any type of flys in your w/o and should just stick to normal presses.
